Earlier this year, the Office of Economic Development and the Department of Public Works, Transportation Division collaborated on identifying a system that directs visitors, shoppers, and residents to available parking in Fairfax City’s Old Town District. The new system highlights real-time parking information and projects that information onto digital displays strategically located throughout
We’re proud to share that the new wayfinding directional signage and parking system was officially launched yesterday! The program is focused on the Old Town Fairfax parking garage and is designed to help visitors, shoppers, and residents navigate to the garage while highlighting available parking.
There are several locations where the directional signage can be found:
- Chain Bridge Road and Sager Avenue
- Chain Bridge Road at the entrance of the Old Town Plaza parking garage
- North Street and Old Lee Highway
- University Drive at the entrance of the Old Town Plaza parking garage
This new initiative comes in response to numerous comments from the Old Town business community that parking in Old Town was challenging and hard to identify for shoppers and visitors. This project helps highlight the numerous availability of spaces at this individual location and hopes to help instill a confidence in shoppers at all the Old Town businesses that there is ample parking in the Old Town district. The program makes parking and shopping easier and stress free.
Aside from this garage, Old Town Fairfax has a number of public parking lots. More information on parking lot locations can be found on the city’s public parking map.
