On behalf of the City of Fairfax, the Economic Development Authority, and the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, we thank you for supporting our city’s local businesses during Small Business Saturday.
For 2018, we kicked off Small Business Saturday with a holiday shopping event to make Small Business Saturday not so small. It entailed extending Small Business Saturday to not only the Saturday after Thanksgiving but the Sunday as well for Fairfax City-opoly. Based on the popular board game Monopoly, Fairfax City-opoly encouraged visitors and residents to shop small and local with a chance to win two cash prizes.
The winners were announced on Monday, December 3 with the $600 cash prize and $100 gift card to Twins Ace Hardware awarded to Sarah Graham and the $300 cash prize to Vincent Caluori.
The community in Fairfax City is unparalleled, in large part because of the city’s small businesses. After graduating from college and returning to the city, it’s the small businesses that make Fairfax City homey. City-opoly was the perfect opportunity to discover new shops while supporting the many amazing small businesses in town,” said Sarah Graham.
My wife and I recently moved to the City of Fairfax. When we heard about Fairfax City-opoly, we pounced on the opportunity to visit the small businesses (and get our game board stamps). It was a creative and fun introduction to what Fairfax City has to offer”, said Vincent Caluori.
We thank everyone who participated in Fairfax City-opoly and invite the city to support our local businesses not only on Small Business Saturday but all year long.
