Fairfax City’s Office of Economic Development, Economic Development Authority, Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, and the Old Town Fairfax Business Association are partnering together to once again rally our city to support and celebrate Small Business Saturday with the 2nd Annual Fairfax City Small Business Saturday Elf Hunt beginning Saturday, November 28 through Sunday, December 13, 2020.
Last year, 30 businesses participated in this city-wide event that had over 200 attendees take part in the “elf hunt” which included visiting businesses in search of elves, learning about and supporting our local business community, and a raffle. Typically, participating businesses are provided with an “Elf on the Shelf” character to hide within their stores. Once an elf is located, a business would stamp the attendees card confirmign the elf was found.
This year due to the pandemic, we are incorporating an electronic component to the “elf hunt” for added health and safety measures. Additionally, instead of hiding elves inside of businesses we are asking that they be placed in your storefront window. With windows decorated as must or as little in red, green, and white. Each business will be given a QR code to place next to the elf in their storefront window that when scanned:
- confirms the elf was found;
- provides a backlink to your business website;
- identifies ways in which your business can be supported;
- and shares any promotions your business is offering.
The traditional “elf hunt” cards will still be available for attendees to as well.
If your business would like to participate, please register here by Friday, November 13, 2020.
