What is your business and when did you open?
We opened Capital Ale House restaurant in Fairfax City in September 2020, nearly 18 years from opening our original restaurant in Richmond.
What is the mission of Capital Ale House?
We have 100 beers on tap, so our mission is to provide the best food and warm atmosphere in which to enjoy them.
What are the products and/or services your business offers?
In addition to our 100 beers, we’re proud that more than half of them are brewed in Virginia. We’re also proud to offer Virginia distilled spirits, wine and all of the beef we serve is locally raised, hormone and antibiotic free.
What makes Capital Ale House unique?
Our commitment to serve quality local products alongside some of the best the rest of the world has to offer.
What is something you would love Fairfax City residents and visitors to know about Capital Ale House?
We are all in for Virginia. Ownership is 100% in state and we encourage everyone to visit our other locations when they travel throughout the state.
What inspired you to open Capital Ale House in Fairfax City?
A local resident showed us the property. Many of our other locations are inside historic buildings and when we saw it we knew we had to be here. We’re very pleased with the end result of our remodel. It captures our concept and brings back warmth to this stately old house.
What do you love most about running your own business?
I like seeing our people grow within our company. Many staff members have moved up into positions of greater responsibility and are the key to our success, and many have worked with us through college and moved on to the careers of their choice. Our industry is a great start for everyone.
Do you have any advice for a new business owner?
Pay attention to details and make sure your staff have the right tools to do their job.
