Tell us a little about Eminence Jewelers.
Eminence Jewelers is a family-owned and operated full service jewelry store serving our community for over 33 years. We focus on offering our guests great selections of high quality fine jewelry, custom-designed pieces, and repairs with exceptional customer service.
What makes Eminence Jewelers unique to Fairfax City?
Eminence Jewelers is unique to Fairfax City in that we’ve been here for over three decades. During those years, we’ve grown to know our guests and became friends to many, some of whom have children and grandchildren coming in now for their own jewelry needs!
What encouraged you to take the leap to get started?
Eminence Jewelers has been in Fairfax City since 1988 – we are the only original tenant of the Turnpike Shopping Center which is across from WT Woodson High School. Our parents owned and operated their own jewelry store on Columbia Pike in Arlington for over 25 years before they retired. Having grown up in the jewelry business and loving everything about it, it was just very natural to continue the family business tradition.
What inspired you to open your business in Fairfax City?
Fairfax City was a perfect location for Eminence Jewelers since we lived in Mantua and attended WT Woodson High School and George Mason University. We wanted to serve and be a part of the community we lived in!
What do you enjoy most about having a business in Fairfax City?
One of the things I very much enjoy and am thankful for about having a business in Fairfax City is the sense of community. We were and are very fortunate to have been able to reopen our doors back in June of last year. The pandemic was crazy hard on everyone and through the efforts of Fairfax City’s Fairfax ReConnectedGrant program as well as our many loyal supporters, we were able to have a great end to a tough year.
How has Eminence Jewelers changed since its opening?
Over the past 33 years, we’ve seen many changes in the Turnpike Shopping Center with businesses coming and going. For us, our business hasn’t changed very much at all – we still offer the same great selection of inventory with the same great service. Maybe the one thing that has changed is the social media aspect of our business with online reviews, which helps to bring new faces through our doors along with the neighborhood newsletters and word-of-mouth referrals.
What do customers say they love about Eminence Jewelers?
Our clients have always complimented us on our customer service and the trust we’ve built with them over the years! We work extremely hard on building and maintaining relationships with our clients and we work diligently in keeping that trust. They’ve come to depend on us to care of all their jewelry needs!
What are some of your fondest memories or biggest successes since Eminence Jewelers has been open?
There has been many fond memories over the past 33+ years with Eminence Jewelers – we’ve been a part of many fabulous stories. The best thing about being in this industry is that we are always around beautiful things and happy people! It’s an amazing feeling to make someone happy – it can be as simple as getting their watch to work again with a fresh battery, or helping to pick out the perfect gift to celebrate a milestone in their lives, or creating something special for that all too important question where the answer must be a “Yes”! It’s especially rewarding when we’re able to help restore a family heirloom or a sentimental piece that just aren’t replaceable.
What’s next for Eminence Jewelers?
The next step is easy – keep doing what we have always been doing and keep our doors open! It’s heart-warming having people stop by to check in on us – the support throughout the years, especially this last year means the world to us!
Are there any fun facts you would like residents and visitors to know about Eminence Jewelers?
A couple of fun facts: we are the 4th generation of jewelers – our parents, grandparents and great grandparents were jewelers back in Cambodia. I am one of 6 children and we are all in the jewelry business, each of us having owned and operated our individual businesses in Northern Virginia at one time or another.
When you’re not working, where in Fairfax City do you like to spend your time?
When work takes a break, a great place to play is behind Eminence Jewelers – Fair City Mall is a fantastic place to shop, work out and eat!
