Faces of Fairfax City: Crazy Crab
If you love Cajun food and you can never have enough seafood, come to Crazy Crab and satiate that craving! Come super hungry – maybe fast a few days beforehand! – and indulge in the all-you-can-eat seafood buffet.
Bring friends, families, and those you haven’t seen since pre-pandemic times, to enjoy the large platters of scrumptious seafood as you catch up with each other. There’s no better way to reconnect than over the breaking of crab claws and a cold beer!
Crazy Crab does not take reservations and seats parties on a first-come first-serve basis.
Tell us about Crazy Crab.
We’re one of the East Coast’s only All You Can Eat Cajun seafood boil restaurants. We offer over 25 seafood and fried items on our All You Can Eat menu, including snow crab legs, blue crabs, shrimp, sea scallops, and raw oysters. What separates us from our competition is our All You Can Eat is made-to-order and served to the table family-style, as opposed to sitting on a buffet line.
What makes Crazy Crab unique to Fairfax City?
We consider ourselves a “destination restaurant,” where people all over the DC area (and beyond) travel long distances to dine with us. This helps bring new faces and tax revenue to the city and allows people to see the beauty of Fairfax and what it has to offer.
How many years have you been in the city and what encouraged you to take the leap to get started?
We’ve been open for 3 years. We decided it was time to take a gamble and try an all-new restaurant concept in a diverse, fast-growing area.
What inspired you to open Crazy Crab in Fairfax City?
We liked the centralized location and all Fairfax City has to offer.
How has Crazy Crab changed since its opening?
We’ve had to adapt over the years to a changing business environment, especially when the pandemic hit. More and more people are ordering take-out, and it’s become a larger part of our business.
What do customers say they love about Crazy Crab?
Our guests love our friendly, multilingual staff which ranges from local high school and college students to seasoned industry professionals. They of course love to indulge in All You Can Eat seafood as well!
What’s next for you and Crazy Crab?
We just opened our second location in Glen Burnie, Maryland (located in between Baltimore and Annapolis). We have a lot of regular guests come to Fairfax from the Baltimore area, but they haven’t been able to come as much as they’d like due to the distance. This gives us the opportunity to attract more locals and also guests from other areas.
When you’re not working, where in Fairfax City do you like to spend your time?
Most of us like to spend time outdoors, exercise, travel domestically and internationally, and take care of our families.
