William T Clothiers is a custom clothing studio in the heart of Fairfax City. Our specialties include; custom suits, sport coats, slacks, shirts for men as well as a small collection of ready to wear clothing. In addition we have a full alteration shop that we can alter existing clothing. One of the unique niches we offer is custom suit jackets, skirts, and blouses for ladies as well, including wedding suits.
What makes William T Clothiers unique to Fairfax City?
William T Clothiers is unique because of the experience it offers when looking to purchase high quality, special clothing attire. There are no other small studios in the Fairfax area that exist. We provide personal attention and a custom approach to each individual.
How many years have you been in the city and what encouraged you to take the leap to get started?
I established William T Clothiers in Fairfax in 2003. Prior to our opening, I realized the only venue for custom clothing was located in Washington DC. I believed there was a real opportunity and desire for a small, clothing boutique to be successful in Fairfax City. Eighteen years later, I would say that has proved true.
What inspired you to open a business in Fairfax City?
This is partially answered in the previous question but in addition, I started my clothing career in Fairfax and love the area. Love the location, historic aspect of the area.
What do you enjoy most about having a business in Fairfax City?
I love being where my clients live. It’s a small community business environment as well as close to where my family resides.
How has William T Clothiers changed since its opening?
We have expanded into offering women’s custom clothing, and particularly wedding attire. We also have been able to reach people that work in the government that live in the Fairfax area.

I think my reviews speak for me. It’s hard to brag on oneself.
What are some of your fondest memories or biggest successes since you’ve opened?
Making matching clothes for a Dad and his young son. Making a tuxedo for a young girl to match her sisters dress for a family wedding.
What’s next for you and William T Clothiers?
To continue to evolve with the changing fashion trends so I can help my clients to stay ahead of the fashion curve and to provide for my clients outfits that are unique to their lifestyle.
Are there any fun facts you would like residents and visitors to know?
Yes, come to my studio where the clothes are free but the entertainment is what you pay for. So, get your stitch together because every stitch counts!
When you’re not working, where in Fairfax City do you like to spend your time?
Driving around the mountains of Virginia on my Harley or in my convertible.
